10 outerwear trends for spring 2025
1. Oversized trench.
In the spring collections of Chloé, Gucci, Carven, Stella McCartney, and Saint-Laurent, it is firmly insisted that the most basic and familiar outerwear item should be loose, with a hint of avant-garde, and definitely maxi length. Regardless of the style of clothing you prefer, whether you often wear a tailored office group or baggy jeans and a top, a quality trench coat of the right silhouette will be a true investment for many years.
2. Leather bomber
Thanks to Anthony Vaccarello for styling with suits and flowing dresses. For those who are not yet ready to wear a bomber over a blazer, Khaite and Junya Watanabe suggest paying attention to texture play within monochrome outfits.
3. Cape
An unexpected, femininely-aristocratic return of the season, unfortunately also maximally impractical for the mid-latitudes of Russia – in spring it's either too cold for it or already too warm, but it's beautiful, individual, and ultra-fashionable.
4. Parkas and worker jackets continue to hold their positions
This season, designers offer us to combine items from different worlds in a single look: glamorous dresses sprinkled with rhinestones, as if left in the wardrobe after a New Year’s party, complemented by modern versatile jackets made in various colors, textures, and lengths. Or we can dive into glamorous sportswear, as Louis Vuitton does.
5. Hello, MOTO!
A trend that definitely won't leave you in the shade. Dior shows us the styling of leather motorcycle jackets with cargo pants, mini skirts, and fully leather outfits as if you left your bike nearby, while Junya Watanabe immerses us in a slightly futuristic world.
6. Massive shoulders continue to hold their positions and are presented in the collections of all leading fashion houses
Cropped coats with luxurious lapels can be found in Bottega Veneta's collection, a slightly rounded shoulder line is seen at Stella McCartney and in Louis Vuitton's cruise collection, timeless proportions at Khaite and Rick Owens, bohemian models with shawl collars at Saint-Laurent, adorned with stones in Louis Vuitton's spring collection.
7. Vests
Tweed, as at Chanel, leather with a retro vibe, as at Chloé, denim, as at Sacai, or raincoat material, as at MM6 – this season welcomes vests of all kinds, lengths, and shapes. Moreover, they are suggested to be worn not only as an alternative to a jacket or raincoat but also as a top or even a dress.
8. The 60s are back, along with compact knee-length coats
We can see sophisticated models in black and moss green with embroidery, a daring version in red patent leather, a black one with perforation, and a vitamin-lime one at Gucci, minimalist models at Prada, naive ones at Givenchy, futuristic ones at Miu Miu, and black ones with voluminous flowers at Michael Kors.
9. The fitted silhouette is making a comeback.
Not yet very loudly, but nonetheless it has actively made its presence known, diversifying the ranks of endless oversized styles. Feminine models with voluminous flowers are offered by Michael Kors for this spring, daring leather ones with asymmetry by Coperni, sophisticated coats with retro references by Louis Vuitton and Givenchy, while Dior handles timeless classics.
